    Poetry is addicting.

    If poetry could talk

    It would be dictating,

    “WRITE MORE!”

    Alliteration
    Once upon a time,

a big baby bullied Bob the Builder.

“Bad boy, Billie.” Said Beth, his mom.

    The big bad baby bawled.

Then the big bad baby climbed onto his bed

And played with his buffalo toy

    “Buffalos go baaa” said Barney.

    Beth laughed. “No they don’t.”

The big bad baby was confused.

    “Bring me some basils.”

    Big bad baby commanded.

    Beth shook her head.

    “No. Be polite.”

The big bad baby tried again.

    “Bring me some basils please.”

    Beth smiled.

“I’ll be back in a jiffy.”

    Beth left for the store.

    The big bad baby waited.

    Beth did not come back.

The big bad baby was bored.

    “Bring me my balloon

    Bring me my bassoon.

Bring it now or I’ll go kaboom.”

    The big bad baby chanted.

The big bad baby bounced on the bed.

    “Come back soon, mama Beth.”

    The big bad baby frowned.

The big bad baby found a brownie.

It was stale and tasted like a broccoli.

“Boo-hoo” The big bad baby bawled.

    Then he saw a bug

    A beautiful butterfly!

The big bad baby got distracted

And grabbed onto its big wings

    The wings fluttered.

The big bad baby was slowly lifting off

The big bad baby was floating!

    The beautiful butterfly flew away

and so did the big bad baby.

“Bye-bye, Beth” said the big bad baby.

The big bad baby never came back.

    All the rain comes down
It soaks the lush, green landscape
    Snug people in homes

    Splish Splash
    Splish Splash, Splish Splash
    Rubber galoshes in the puddle
    Drip Drop, Drip Drop
Raindrops plop on a purple umbrella
    Swoosh Whoosh, Swoosh Whoosh
    Wind through the massive oaks
    Slurp Slop, Slurp Slop
Little kids with pink Little tongues sucking in rain
    Crackle Crunch, Crackle Crunch
Flaming fire glows bright in the smokey chimney
    The onomatopia storm.

    Poems with Prefixes and Suffixes
    Bene:

There once was a benevolent girl

Who never asked for more than love.

She never asked for birthday presents,

And she never asked for souvenirs.

Everyone knew her as the beneficent one.

She believed that in order to be loved,

    You must love them back.

When she smiled, you could tell

    That her smile contained stilbene.

    She always promoted personal happiness

No one ever said “bye” to her without a smile.

    She wasn't buying friends

She never made friends for gifts.

She made friends because of her heart

    The beauty inside her that shined ;

    Shined like her mother's nails.

She never turned down a benefice

She never asked for one either.

    All she ever asked for

Was true love from their hearts.

She never had that much money

    But her friends mattered more,

    Money wasn't everything.

She never gave up on life

She knew that if she did,

    Then others would too.

    She inquired if she mattered to anyone;

    If she was admired, loved.

    Her mother said “No,”

“You're not only loved; you're needed.”

    The vivacious benevolent girl

    Smiled at her mother.

    Her mother gave her back

    A large, warm smile.

    Mal:

    Darn, I heard bad news.

    My friend’s town is maladjusted.

    Don’t be amused,

    Now her house is busted.

    Her family can’t pay taxes,

These days it’s just too much.

    There will be no access

From her to me and such.

    People think this is malapropism,

But believe me, it’s really not.

We need to stick to optimism,

    Soon our smiles will rot.

    Her dad has a malady

But they can’t go to the doctors

This isn’t funny; it’s no parody

    Help! We need some mentors.

Too many have attempted to cause malice

They don’t know how bad this is.

But go tell your friend Alice

    That their family is like soda fizz;

Their family can suddenly lose it all.

    Your family’s going on a vacation…
but you’re trying to have patience

    You jump into your car…
    but it smells like tar

Your van is like a box…
    filled with smelly socks

You jump out of this box…
    but your family’s driven off

    I have an assignment due
    On November twenty-two
    I’m putting it off
    But my teacher will scoff
    I’m riding in dangerous waters
    I’m being a squatter
    Its due tomorrow night
And it’s putting up a fight
I’m trying to have a life
    My homework’s causing strife

    One Drop

    A single drop of water
    falls down
    to the parched ground.
    The drooping flowers
    look up again.
    The browning grass
    smiles gratefully.
    Animals start to frolic
    and play again.
    The earth is alive
    once more.

    Global Warming

    Today I have bad news,

    It’s all about the future.

    There’s no one to accuse,

It’s us humans who started it.

Let me give you a clue

Of what I am talking about.

    It will soon become true

If no one knows about it.

Clue 1: You know the deep blue seas?

Someday we’ll be like dolphins on land

Water’ll be up to our knees

    And everything will be soaked!

    This clue is telling you

    That with this bad news,

Sea levels will rise (it’s true)

If no one does anything about it.

Clue 2: You know the big white bears?

    Someday they’ll all be gone

If no one in this world cares

    They’ll soon be history.

    Yes, that is right.

The bad news I am telling you about

Can give you nightmares at night,

If no one cares about it.

    Winter

    Winter behold,

    The season of cold

Some people are warm like that

    For they have a thermostat

    While some shiver

    Without blankets, they’re a-quiver

Won’t you help raise some bliss

You don’t want the holidays to go amiss
